Valley yards flood for a simple reason: a hard monsoon dumps a lot of water fast, the ground doesn’t absorb it, and if the grade runs the wrong way, all of it heads for the house. The fix starts with the grade.
What we do is regrade the yard so water runs away from the house and off to where it belongs, and haul off the dirt that comes with it. Get the grade right and most “flooding” problems simply stop.
When grading isn’t enough, we install the real thing: French drains, catch basins and dry wells. Which one a yard needs depends on where the water collects and where there is anywhere for it to go — a catch basin is no use without somewhere to send what it catches. We’ll look at the site and tell you whether you need a system or just a better grade, and we’d rather tell you it’s the grade if that’s the truth.
